Shiva’s Gift to a Wolf

Once upon a time,
in the maze of time and space
there was a sad, lone wolf,
a moon,
and a Great divinity called Shiva.

And Shiva came to rise in the heart of the wolf.

It was a gift to the wolf.
It was a spontaneous gift.
For no reason.
Except undemanding divine compassion, love,
and good humor.

And grew the gratitude of the wolf,
a gratitude
complete,
unabated,
discreetly resplendent.

The wolf wrote this poem.

He wrote it for all the other wolves
wandering on planet earth
or au-delà,
that they should know
the deepest heart of their destiny,
the deepest gift of their destiny,
the hidden wonders of their liberty;

that they should know
the name of their destiny,
that they should know
the immortal master of the moon and the night,
that they should know
the gift of gratitude
and immortal joy.
